Mr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, Governor of the Central Bank states that Indian tourists coming to Sri Lanka can use Indian rupees in Sri Lanka.

He also claims that Indian rupees can be used for trade transactions between the two countries.

He said this while delivering the keynote speech at an event organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Colombo.
