An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.3 has struck near the Sumatra Islands in Indonesia. Several aftershocks have also been reported after this shock occurred about 84 kilometers deep in the sea.

Based on this situation, people along the coast of West Sumatra have been evacuated and tsunami warnings have been issued. The Disaster Management Center said that there was no impact on Sri Lanka due to this earthquake.
