Rice shortage all over the country There is a shortage of rice in many parts of the country. There is a shortage of rice for sale in some shops.   Use Indian credit line and other available credit lines to resolve the country's drug shortage as soon as possible – COPE chair recommends  The Chairman of the COPE, Hon. (Prof) Charitha Herath, recommended at the Committee meeting held that action be taken to resolve the drug shortage in the country as soon as possible using Indian credit loan assistance and other credit facilities.   World Bank lashes out at Sri Lanka The World Bank has stated that the statement made by the Sri Lankan Ministry of External Affairs that the World Bank will provide US $ 700 million to Sri Lanka in the next few months is untrue. Shashi Weerawansa sentenced to two years in prison

  Shashi Weerawansa sentenced to two years in prison Wimal Weerawansa's wife Shashi Weerawansa has been sentenced to two years imprisonment with hard labor by the Colombo Magistrate's Court. He was also ordered to pay a fine of Rs. 100,000 and an additional six months imprisonment if he did not pay. The order was issued by Colombo Chief Magistrate Buddhika Sri Ragala today.
